Sikhote-Alin Iron Meteorite ‘Fairness, Kindness & Honesty’
Sikhote-Alin is an iron meteorite which fell to earth on the Sikhote-Alin Mountains in Russia in 1947. This fall is one of the largest meteorite showers in recent history. As the 100,000kg meteorite — travelling at a speed of about 14 km/s — entered the atmosphere, it began to break apart, and the fragments fell together.
At an altitude of about 5.6 km, the largest mass broke up in a violent explosion. Eyewitnesses said it was brighter than the sun! Millions of years old, scientists believe that Nickel Iron meteorites, were once part of the molten cores of ancient planets and planetary bodies.

- Thumbprinted or Regmaglypted pieces, showing fusion crust and signs of atmospheric ablation (melting & flow lines).
- Shrapnel like or fragmented pieces with sharp edges that were torn apart during the atmospheric explosions or blasted apart upon impact.
