Today is the Equinox, the “equal night” both for the Northern Hemisphere – Vernal or Spring Equinox – and for us in the Southern Hemisphere – Fall or Autumn Equinox. That day, because of the translation of the Earth around the Sun, plus the Earth’s tilt shift, makes that both hemispheres receive the same amount of light and marks the change between seasons. So, “Only during an equinox is the Earth's 23.5° axis not tilting toward or away from the sun: the perceived center of the Sun’s disk is in the same plane as the Equator”[1]. These information was crucial for all of our predecessors to make decisions on when to prepare the soil to cultivate, if it was time to harvest, to take specific care of their animals, to go hunting or gathering or to prepare to migrate or not. Basically, the connection to the cycles of the Heavens and the Earth was decisive to know when was a proper time to take certain specific cares of themselves, their families and all Nature for living. In times where we have access to artificial light during the night, that we can accommodate the weather with air conditioner in our homes, and eat practically everything we want because it’s available at the supermarket, either if it’s something that comes from the other side of the world, we tend to take those things for granted and don’t give much thanks of the interesting time we are living. And what meant Autumn for previous communities? It was a time for harvest, of collecting the fruits and seeds that Summer had given and prepare themselves for colder and shorter days, that means, to some restrictions, but in a natural solar or annual process of expanding and contracting with Nature. Now, we have been affected, in one way or another, by what’s going on with the spread of a virus, and it seems that there is a message of “restriction”: restricted expression of affection, restricted gatherings, restricted travelling, etc. We can consider this experience – as any other daily experience - as a spiritual lesson where we can meditate on and integrate what is helpful for our own spiritual growth. Have you thought for example that now we have the possibility of being so interconnected, that everything that is happening somewhere else, even if distant, can affect us? So I want to invite you see this as an opportunity and connect with your own body and your inner power. In the same way that you are affected by external signs, you can affect the experience you are having and, energetically, be a positive wave in this interconnectedness. Physically, you can be responsible with yourself and your family taking care of your immune system – hygiene, nutrition, exercise – and mentally, entering a space of calm and centring. Fear as an emotion, is connected to the suprarenal glands, and if they are overworking, they don’t leave much space for the immune system to do their own work. So is a decision where you want to put your focus and therefore, your energy. In case you want to give yourself time to release the fear, enter in the space of your heart and the thymus, the love experience… let go, release what is not necessary. Visualize yourself as a tree covered in leaves that are prepared to start flying… they know you need space for new branches, fruits and leaves as you are continuously changing and expanding… so breath in, in gratefulness for the experience of all of those leaves that grew in your branches in your experience of the last cycle, and when you breath out, let them softly detach from you and just float, in the soft breeze, getting away from you and letting space for new experiences to come. Energetically, Autumn Equinox is a special time to ask yourself questions regarding balance in your life, and take that energy of completion and releasing, as a way to prepare for your new or ongoing projects. Give yourself some time to check your Summer Solstice or New Year’s resolutions, and check what has happened in these last three months. Have you completed some of them? Any? Are they still relevant or they are not as priority as they were? Then this is perfect moment to decide what you are going to leave to materialise those dreams and projects. Sometimes, is just letting go a couple of things that aren’t so beneficial to give space to your deep inner requirements, the ones that your unique Soul wants to bring into the world. So I invite you to connect with the Heavens and Earth cycles: Sun and seasons, Moon’s phases, day and night, to feel your physical existence as a manifestation of Nature, and honour your own personal human cycles so you can recognise Nature’s cycles as well for a more balanced and nurtured existence.
